how much?

いくら means “how much?” and is used when asking prices.
A: これは幾らですか。
B: これは八千円です。
A: Kore wa ikura desu ka.
B: Kore wa hassen-en desu.
A: How much is this?
B: This is 8,000 yen.
Note: Ikura is often written in hiragana いくら; but you should know the kanji form幾ら as well.
