TWO "LOOK-ALIKE KANJI"
続・読
Another pair of kanji that are separated by only a radical. The radical on the right side of both 続 and 読 is 売. For 続, the left-side radical is a thread, 糸. This has a logical connection with 続’s primary range of meaning (continue). Similarly, the meaning of 読, (read) can be easily linked to the left-side radical 言, which means (speech/expression). We will explore more kanji that contain 糸 and 言 in subsequent sections.
