A Useful Expression for Japanese Emails:
No doubt you have
experienced the following email scenario: Someone sends you an email with
a list of questions, and it is then your turn to respond to the
correspondence with a list of answers to their questions.
One of the most
effective phrases for addressing this type of email is:
貴職からの質問への回答
kishoku kara no shitsumon e no kaitoo
This
means “in response to your questions,” but the above phrase is an
especially polite way of prefacing your responses in a business context.
Suppose
that someone has just emailed you a list of questions about this month’s
production plan. After the initial greetings, your email response might
contain a sentence like this:
さて、今月の生産計画につき、最新状況を報告します。(含む貴職からの質問への回答)
Sate,
kongetsu no seisan keikaku ni tsuki, saishin jookyoo o hookoku shimasu. (fukumu
kishoku kara no shitsumon e no kaitoo.)
"Well,
regarding this month’s production plan, I will report the latest situation
(including answers to your questions)"
